Henrique Sergio Moraes Coelho is Associate Professor, Department of Clinica Medica, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) since 1977 and Chief of Hepatology, Hospital Clementino Fraga Filho, UFRJ since its admission in 2006. Previously he was Chief of Gastroenterology and Medical Clinic of the same Hospital. He graduated in 1973 at the Faculty of Medicine of the UFRJ having done Residency in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology Specialization in the same UFRJ. Master in Gastroenterology and Doctor (PhD) in Infectious Diseases, titels obtained after defending a thesis at UFRJ. He participated in 18 of the 21 Brazilian Congresses of Hepatology and presented over 300 works with the group that heads the UFRJ. As an extension activity he has delivered over 800 lectures and conferences Courses, Congresses and Symposia in Brazil and South America. He has published over 50 scientific papers in international medical journals with PubMed. He is Professor of Internal Medicine Graduate having directed more than 65 Masters and PhD theses at UFRJ and participated in more than 40 examination boards of Master and PhD at UFRJ and other universities. Started as the first Coordinator Clinical Liver Transplantation Program at the city of Rio de Janeiro UFRJ in 1993. He is the current President of the Brazilian Society of Hepatology elected for the biennium 2012-2013, having previously been vice president in two administrations. He was Secretary General of the Brazilian Federation of Gastroenterology and Liver Group President of Rio de Janeiro.
