We are pleased to announce the 11th International Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology of HIV Therapy, to be held in Sorrento, Italy, from 7-9 April, 2010.
Understanding the clinical pharmacology of antiretroviral therapy is pivotal to designing optimal treatment and prevention strategies for HIV infection. We know that drug exposure is significantly influenced by drug interactions, non-adherence, and patients’ physiologic and genetic characteristics. These factors are central to determining therapeutic efficacy, failure or toxicity. Despite great progress, many pharmacologic challenges still exist.
The 11th edition of the International Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology will present the current state-of-the-art on the use of antiretroviral agents in preventing and curing HIV infection, in addition to predicting important toxicities, antiretroviral challenges in an aging population, and antiretroviral use in resource-poor countries. The workshop will also provide a comprehensive update of current topics fundamental to the optimal use of antiretroviral therapy, such as newly detected drug-drug interactions, pharmacokinetics of investigational agents, drug dosing in special populations, and post-marketing surveillance projects.
After last year's 10th jubileum, we look forward to embarking on another decade of successful interchange. We hope you will be able to join us this year and we look forward to seeing you in Sorrento.
