Dear Colleagues

In 2007, a new initiative was launched by Professor Joep M.A. Lange and Dr Charles Boucher. A prominent group of experts in the field of HIV / AIDS from all parts of the world, initiated the first of a series of focused international meetings in development countries, where experts in the field of HIV prevention and treatment can share their knowledge and views with each other.

The 1st INTEREST workshop took place in Kampala, Uganda, on 24 – 26 May 2007. The 3-day meeting featured parallel sessions on Prevention and Treatment. This very successful meeting was attended by 200 participants and incited a high degree of interactiveness and discussions.

The 2nd INTEREST workshop will take place in Dakar, Senegal, on 20 – 23 May 2008. The targeted number of participants for this meeting is 300. The format will be a 3 1/2-day meeting with presentations of renowned invited speakers, abstract–driven presentations, and poster sessions. Much time will be allocated for questions & answers and discussion in order to set up an intimate interactive workshop
