Thanks to a wonderful turnout and excellent scientific program, the 3rd INTEREST Workshop was a great success! Held in the InterContinental Hotel in Zambia's capital, Lusaka, 211 delegates from 15 different African countries, as well as North America, Europe and Asia were in attendance (please refer to the participant list to the right of your screen).

The meeting comprised a three-and-a-half-day program consisting of plenary sessions on HIV prevention and treatment, with presentations by renowned invited speakers, abstract-driven presentations and poster sessions. Additional time was allocated to Q&A to foster an intimate, interactive workshop. A special Opening Session marked the beginning of the workshop on Tuesday evening, followed the subsequent evening by a special World Bank Session that ended in cocktails and warm snacks. The workshop was concluded with session highlights presented by the session chairs.

We would like to express our appreciation to everyone who took the time to fill in the evaluation form at the end of the conference. Thanks to your feedback and suggestions, we hope to build upon last year's success to ensure an even better workshop in 2010.

Of course, the organization of this workshop could not have been possible without the valuable support of our sponsors. Special thanks goes out to Abbott Virology, The NIH, The World Bank, Gilead, The Forum for Collaborative HIV Research, as well as The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands!

We hope to see you again at the 4th INTEREST Workshop in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2010 and encourage you to submit abstracts on your research for another successful scientific program.
