In March 2007, the 5th European HIV Drug Resistance Workshop was held at the Hotel Miragem, in Cascais, Portugal. As in previous years, the workshop was very successful with more than 350 registrations.
The European HIV Drug Resistance Workshops have proven to meet the need of European researchers and clinicians working in the field of HIV treatment. The workshop has become the place to be to keep abreast of the latest scientific developments in the field of HIV drug resistance and to translate the latest science to daily clinical practice.
The format of the meeting was a two and a half-day program consisting of invited lectures, abstract driven scientific presentations, clinical case presentations and poster sessions. The workshop addressed important topics such as mechanisms of drug resistance, epidemiology of drug resistance, resistance to new drugs, resistance technology, managing HIV-HCV co-infection, etc.
