8th International Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology of HIV Therapy, 16 - 18 April 2007, Budapest, Hungary

Dear Colleagues

Pharmacological factors are an important cause for therapeutic failure during antiretroviral treatment. Inadequate exposure of HIV to drugs may be caused by non-adherence, drug interactions and variations in drug pharmacokinetics due to a variety of genetic and drug-specific characteristics.
The 8th edition of the International Workshop on Clinical Pharmacology provided a comprehensive update of various topics, such as newly detected drug-drug interactions, pharmacokinetic modeling and simulations, drug-induced toxicity (including hepatotoxicity), pharmacokinetics of investigational agents, and post-marketing surveillance projects.
The workshop also presented the current state of the art on therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and its uptake in various clinical guidelines such as DHHS, BHIVA ,etc.
A special session was devoted to developments of generic antiretroviral drugs.

The format of the meeting consisted of oral presentations, poster sessions, Q&A-sessions, roundtable discussions and plenary presentations by invited speakers.
