Alessandra Viganò, MD is a paediatric infectious diseases specialist and head of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Unit at “L. Sacco” Hospital, University of Milan, in Milan (Italy). She is also teaching professor at Milan University, board of Paediatrics.
The focus of her clinical work is paediatric HIV infection, hepatitis C and B infections, congenital infections, infection control practice, antibiotic and antiviral policy & practice. Current research interest include the viroimmunological outcome of paediatric cART, metabolic complications of cART including changes in body composition, alterations in lipid and glucose homeostasis, atherosclerosis and changes in bone mineralisation in HIV-infected children. In addition another research interest is related to possible side-effect due to in utero exposure to cART in HIV-uninfected children and infant born to HIV-infected mother. She is author of 153 publications, among which 101 peer-review journal publications.
