Brian Eley: TB – Diagnosis, Treatment and Controversies in Pediatric HIV Infection
Brian Eley, MBChB, BSc, FC Paed is a paediatric infectious diseases specialist and head of the Paediatric Infectious Diseases Unit at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. He is also an associate professor in the School of Child and Adolescent Health, University of Cape Town. The focus of his clinical work is paediatric HIV infection,
tuberculosis, common childhood viral and bacterial infections in resource-limited settings, infection control practice, and antibiotic policy & practice.
Current research interests include the outcome of paediatric ART, pharmacokinetics of antiretroviral agents in children co-treated with anti-TB medication, genetic control of mycobacterial infection, and new diagnostic tests for TB. He is a co-author of more than 80 peer-review journal publications.
