Scientific contents
At the end of the meeting, the participants were asked to fill out an evaluation form to give their opinion on several subjects. The overall opinion of the participants on the content of the workshop was very positive: 87.2% filled out “(very much) agree” when asked if the meeting met their expectations.

Logistics:
The venue chosen for this workshop was the very new, spacious and modern Hotel Miragem in Cascais. Built relatively close to the waterfront, it offered a beautiful view on the Atlantic Ocean. The meeting facilities were excellent for this event.
Participants were generally positive about the allocated time per session and per presentation; 93% scored “(fully) agree”, and 82% answered “(fully) agree” when asked if there was enough time for discussion.  The time allocated to the poster sessions was also rated positively, 88% scored (fully) agree.

Participants:
There were 362 participants from 31 countries.
Similar to last year, the country with the largest number of participants was Belgium, with a group of 69 participants . This even exceeded the number of participants from the hosting country; 44 participants were from Portugal.

Professional background:
36% of the participants were clinicians, 6% indicated that they were industry representatives and 42% were researchers, the remaining 16% did not mention their background.

Conclusion:
Previous editions of this workshop have always been rated positively, however this 5th edition was rated even higher than any previous workshop. Remarks expressing the excellence of this workshop (both in terms of contents as well as logistics) were made orally during the workshop as well as on the evaluation forms. The Organising Committee and the Organising Secretariat are more than pleased with the evaluation results of the 5th European HIV Drug Resistance Workshop and will shortly start with the preparations for the 6th. European HIV Drug Resistance Workshop which is planned to be held in Hungary on 26 – 28 March 2007.
