G. John-Stewart: Perinatal and Breast feeding studies using Antivirals



Dr. Grace John-Stewart, MD, PhD is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine, Epidemiology and Global Health at the University of Washington. Dr. John-Stewart is a physician who was trained in internal medicine/pediatrics and infectious diseases.
She also has an MPH and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington.  Dr. John-Stewart has conducted collaborative HIV-1 research in Kenya since 1993 and was based in Kenya for over a decade.   Her research interests include mother-to-child HIV-1 transmission, breastfeeding HIV-1 transmission, HIV-1 pathogenesis, and molecular epidemiology.  She has published over 100 manuscripts, the majority focused on issues relevant to vertical HIV-1 transmission, and HIV-1 in women and children.   Dr. John-Stewart is a recipient of an Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation Scientist Award for studies on breastmilk HIV-1 transmission.
