Bruno LINA MD, PhD, was born in 1961 in Lyon, and did his medical training in Lyon.
He is the head of a hospital based laboratory of Virology as well as the head of the CNRS – Université de Lyon research laboratory (CNRS FRE 3011). He is also the head of the French National Reference Centre for Influenza virus south France, and the head of the French National Reference centre for Enteroviruses. Both reference laboratories are acting as WHO national laboratory.
He is a member of the French pandemic planning committee and a member of the advisory group of the French MoH for pandemic.
WHO has appointed him several times as temporary expert for questions related to influenza viruses or polioviruses. He is currently the Chair of the Advisory Group appointed by the Director General of WHO for the sharing of influenza viruses and benefits.
He is currently the president of the European Society for Clinical Microbiology, and one of the Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Virology.
