J-P. Routy: Novel findings in transmission and primary HIV infection
Jean Pierre Routy, MD. is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is an active member of the Division of Hematology and Immunodeficiency Service at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal.

Dr. Routy received his MD in 1986 and completed his residency in Hematology-Oncology at the Université d’Aix-Marseille, France. In 1990, he was awarded a fellowship from the Université de Montréal to conduct immunological research in HIV-infected patients.
In 1994, Dr. Routy was offered a position at McGill University and was promoted in 2002 to Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Experimental Medicine.
Since 1999, he holds a scientific career award as a Physician-Scientist from the “Fonds de Recherche en Santé du Quebec”. Since 1996, he is the Director of the Montreal Primary HIV-Infection Study, allowing him to make important contribution to HIV transmission, drug resistance and HIV pathogenesis. In 2008, he became the national Co-Director of the Immunotherapy and vaccine core group at the Canadian HIV Trial Network. He leads numerous clinical trials assessing the role of cytokines and dendritic cells as immunotherapy and explores new strategies toward HIV eradication. Dr Routy has authored or co-authored more than 100 publications.
