John Morris is a CMC Project Scientific Director at Abbott Laboratories. He leads drug product development activities from Discovery to commercialization for cross-functional teams of formulators, analysts, process engineers and other specialties representing the various areas of expertise. Responsibilities include all technical activities relating to chemistry, manufacturing, and control (CMC) during the development of new drug products and line extensions and completion of associated regulatory submission documents. John is skilled in development of a wide variety of drug product formulations and manufacturing processes including novel drug delivery technologies and fixed dose combination products. Current interests include application of Quality by Design (QbD) principles and Process Analytical Technology (PAT) techniques to establish continuous manufacturing for high volume products. John received his BA in chemistry from Augustana College and his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Iowa State University. Since joining Abbott in 1993, John has worked on drug development programs across several therapeutic areas and has global regulatory filing experience for market authorization of 7 commercial products marketed in more than 150 countries.
