N. Martin: Cell-to-cell spread
Nicola Martin is a PhD. candidate at the University of Oxford, working in the laboratory of Quentin Sattentau. She studied pre-clinical medicine at Oxford, graduating with a first-class honours degree in which she specialized in infection and immunity. This course led her to undertake an MRC-funded D.Phil. project investigating the cell-cell spread of CCR5 tropic HIV-1.
In July 2009 she passed her examination and is currently awaiting graduation from her D.Ph. She has submitted a manuscript of the work

In July 2009 she passed her examination and is currently awaiting graduation from her D.Ph. She has submitted a manuscript of the work presented herein to PLOS Pathogens, and has authored a review of cell-cell HIV-1 spread in Current Opinion in HIV and AIDS. In September of this year she will return to clinical studies to complete her Bachelor of Surgery, and hopes to continue her interest in research during the course of her medical career.
