Singh, Ila 2010
Ila Singh, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Utah and a Medical Director of the Hepatitis-Retrovirus Laboratories at ARUP Laboratories. Dr. Singh received her medical degree from the University of Bombay, and did her PhD dissertation with Dr. Ari Helenius at Yale University.

She was a Jane Coffin Childs fellow in Dr. Pat Brown's lab at Stanford, where she developed genetic footprinting.  She then did a residency in Clinical Pathology at Columbia University, and stayed on as faculty there until her move to Salt Lake City in 2008.  Throughout her career, Dr. Singh’s work has focused on viruses, mostly on Moloney murine leukemia virus, a virus that is closely related to XMRV.  Her current research focuses on XMRV, its tropism, epidemiology, links to tumorigenesis, and in the development of sensitive and specific tests for its detection.
