Sabrina Bakeera-Kitaka: Innovative Strategies to Improve Adherence in Youth

Sabrina Bakeera-Kitaka, MD completed her MB ch B in 1995 and her Masters of Paediatrics and Child health in 2002 from, Makerere University. She did a Fellowship of Infectious Diseases, 2003-2006, supported by the Infectious Diseases Institute/Paediatrics Infectious Diseases Clinic and is currently a Clinical Research Scholar. Since August of 2003,
she has headed the Adolescent Programs at the PIDC Mulago, which is one of the largest Paediatric and Adolescent HIV Programs in sub Saharan Africa. She is a specialist Paediatrician at the Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala; an Honorary lecturer at the Makerere University College of Health Sciences, as well as an adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics on the Global Health pathway at the University of Minnesota. Dr.Bakeera-Kitaka is an author and co-author on over a dozen peer-reviewed publications, and has presented over 40 abstracts at National and International research meetings. She is a reviewer on 5 peer reviewed journals, and is involved in clinical research. Her goal is to promote Adolescent Health Care in Uganda and ensuring that Adolescents and Young people living with HIV attain their full potential through sustainable and comprehensive programs.
