Treatment of resistant TB in HIV infected patients






Andrea Gori, MD , was appointed Director of Division of Infectious Diseases at "San Gerardo" Hospital, University of Milano-Bicocca, Monza in 2007.
He graduated at the University of Milan in Italy, and later has been trained in internal medicine and infectious diseases in Utrecht at the National Institute of Health of the Netherlands, and in Brussels where he was appointed as AIDS Fellow at Erasme Hospital, Libre University of Brussels.
He joined the Institute of Infectious Diseases, Univesity of Milan at “Luigi Sacco” Hospital in 1994 as senior physician, dedicated to HIV, immunology and TB. Regarding TB in particular, he focused his research interests on TB/HIV co-infection and TB epidemiology. Later, he became responsible for setting up the regional drug-resistance surveillance project and the new TB surveillance monitoring system. He has been a member of the Stop TB Partnership since its establishment in 2001. Currently, he is responsible for strategies and policies and works with a network of Italian TB experts.
He published about 150 articles in influential health journals and books. As an expert in TB, he has served as a visiting professor in various medical schools and also lectures at international health conferences on TB issues.
