Patrick Ingiliz, MD, is a specialist for Internal Medicine and Infectiology. He is currently working as a consultant in the Medical Center for Infectious Diseases in Berlin. His main fields of interest are HIV infection and viral hepatitis coinfection. His clinical research projects are focused on acute hepatitis C infection, liver fibrosis progression and steatohepatitis in HIV infection. He is actively involved in numerous trials on directly acting agents against hepatitis C in mono- and in coinfected subjects. During his training, he worked in an HIV/AIDS programme in subsaharan Africa which focused on the implementation of antiretroviral therapy in Malawi. He furthermore completed a research fellowship at the Pitié-Salpêtrière liver unit in Paris. Dr Ingiliz plays an active role in several national and international research collaborations.
