Dr. Stacy Carrington-Lawrence is the Chair of the Etiology and Pathogenesis section in the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of AIDS Research (OAR). The OAR is located in the Office of the Director for the NIH and is responsible for coordinating the legislative, policy, portfolio analysis, and budgetary components for all AIDS research at the NIH. She is responsible for the management of the NIH HIV basic science research portfolio as well as research examining the co-morbidities associated with HIV disease. Additionally she also leads several initiatives including the OAR HIV Genetics Research Coordinating Committee, and serves as the executive secretary for the OAR Genetics Research Working Group comprised of outside experts. These groups are responsible for setting the NIH priorities and agenda for genetics research being conducted in the area of HIV and AIDS. Prior to joining the Office of AIDS Research, Dr. Carrington-Lawrence worked in the NIH Office of Science Policy where she worked on Public-Private Partnerships, following a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute.
