Victor Valcour, MD

Valcour, Victor 2013Dr. Victor Valcour, MD is a Professor Medicine in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Department of Neurology at the University of California San Francisco.  He is a clinician at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, where he evaluates patients with cognitive disorders including many individuals living with HIV as a chronic illness. 

His primary research interest involves HIV-specific mechanisms of brain injury where he investigates intracellular HIV DNA as a marker for cognitive impairment, the earliest brain changes occurring during acute HIV infection, and optimal treatment paradigms for adolescents aging with HIV. Most of his research occurs in resource-limited settings including Thailand, Cambodia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Nigeria.
