Alicja Wiercińska-Drapało, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor and Head of the Department of Hepatology and Acquired Immunodeficiency, Warsaw Medical University (Poland). She earned her medical degree and PhD from the Medical University of Bialystok, where she also later received her Habilitation. She completed specialization training in internal medicine and infectious diseases. Clinical interests and research efforts in the field of viral hepatitis and HIV include disease pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, therapy, hepatitis co-infections, testing, antiretroviral therapy, and opportunistic infections. She is also interested in other infectious diseases problems including tick-borne and parasitic diseases. She was the editor of HIV & AIDS Review. She is a member of the Polish Scientific Society AIDS and the Polish Society of Physicians in Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases and the author of numerous publications and presentations at national and international congresses.
