Ayden Scheim, PhD

Ayden Scheim, PhD, is a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California San Diego and an Associate Scientist in the Li Ka Shing KnowledgeInstituteat St. Michael’s Hospital(Toronto, Canada). Dr. Scheim is a social epidemiologist with fifteen years of experience in HIV prevention, health, and human rights among key populations, particularly transgender people and people who inject drugs. He currently conducts community-based research with trans women, men, and non-binary people in Canada, the U.S., and India and serves on the Sexual Health chapter workgroup for the forthcoming revision of the World Professional Association Standards of Care. Dr. Scheim’s research and consultancy work also focuses on advancing methods for transgender inclusion in HIV surveillance and other population health data globally.
