Born in 1961, BÉLA HUNYADY finished his medical studies in 1986. He is specialized in internal medicine, gastroenterology and clinical pharmacology. He completed his PhD Thesis in 1994 and became the Doctor of Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2003. In addition to Hungary, he spent several years as basic scientist as well as clinical gastroenterologist & hepatologist in the USA, the United Arab Emirates, and UK. He is a full professor at the First Department of Medicine, University of Pecs, Hungary and the head of department at Department of Gastroenterology, Somogy County Kaposi Mor Teaching Hospital, Kaposvar, Hungary. His clinical and scientific activities cover acid-related disorders, IBD, endoscopy as well as chronic liver diseases. He has been involved in more than 35 phase 2-3 multinational clinical studies. As an academic teacher he is actively participating in graduate and postgraduate medical and gastroenterology training programs. He is an author of more than 70 articles and book chapters. He is a member of several Hungarian or International professional societies, reviewer and/or editorial board member for several medical journals. He is a member of the Advisory Committee of Hungarian Board of Gastroenterology, past president of the Hungarian Society of Gastroenterology, a representative of National Society Forum on UEG General Assembly and president of the Hepatology Section of the Hungarian Society of Gastroenterology.
