Dr. Calixte Ida Penda, MD, is a Paediatrician with a Master’s degree in international public health, expert in prevention of mother to child of HIV transmission and HIV care of children and adolescent. She is a junior lecturer in Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Douala and performs the function of Doctor Coordinator of HIV/AIDS Treatment Center of Douala Laquintinie Hospital, which is also Paediatric Center of Excellence for HIV care.
She is deeply committed in the development of capacity building and training in Africa, particularly through the network "CHILD and HIV in Africa (EVA)", paediatricians and care teams network, specialised in global HIV paediatric care occurring in 13 francophone countries of Africa of which she is the Vice President, and through the network "ANECCA (African Network for the Care of Children Affected by AIDS)" of which she is a Focal Point in Cameroon.
Investigator associated in the ANRS studies on paediatric AIDS in Cameroon (PEDIACAM ANRS 12140, ANRS 12225), she has 16 years of experience in planning, implementation and review of PMTCT and HIV paediatric care programs. She has notably contributed to the support for the integration of PMTCT and PECP in programs against HIV/AIDS of public and private sector as well as the elaboration and writing of standards and guidelines of HIV-infected children and adolescent in Cameroon.
