Prof. Christopher Kuaban, MD, was born on October 16, 1950. He is holder of an MD degree from the University of Yaoundé. He specialized in Occupational Medicine and Chest Medicine at Université Paris VI and Université Paris V respectively in Paris, France. He is also holder of a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, USA.
He is a full Professor of Medicine and besides his activities as a university lecturer; he has been the permanent secretary of the National Tuberculosis Control Program from 1996 to 2004 and medical advisor of the Jamot Hospital in Yaoundé from 2006 to 2013. He has equally been the General Coordinator of the Specialization Cycle and Head of Department of Public Health in the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Yaoundé 1, respectively from 2007 to 2013 and 2009 to 2013. Since 2012, Professor Kuaban is pioneer Dean of the newly opened Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Bamenda.
In the area of research, his publications are based on tuberculosis, tuberculosis and HIV coinfection, respiratory infections, pleural and allergic respiratory diseases. He is co-author of a book entitled “Sida et tuberculose: la double peine: Institutions, professionnels et société face à la coinfection au Cameroun et au Sénégal”. He is member of several Scientific societies notably Société de Pneumologie de Langue Française, European Respiratory Society, Société Africaine de Pneumologie de Langue Française, The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (UNON), The International AIDS Society and Société Camerounaise de Pneumologie.
