Since the year 2000, Pr Corinne Isnard Bagnis is in charge of a Nephrology Unit in Pitie Salpetriere Hospital in Paris. Her scientific and medical interests go into two directions: clinical research in field of renal disease in the HIV infected patient (kidney and viral diseases). She is running a specific out patient consultation for HIV patients (and HIB/HCV) at Pitie Salpetriere which is one of the largest hospital in Europe allowing her team to study large cohort of patients for renal monitoring in Infectious diseases. Her group is running a unique follow up cohort study of all French HIV infected patients treated with hemodialysis. Her second focus is Patient Education : she has created together with Pr C. Tourette Turgis, the first Institute for Patient Education in Chronic Diseases at Pierre et Marie Curie University in 2009. This original Institute has pionnered in the field of patient empowerment with the launching of the first Patient's University in 2010. The Institute also offers a high level university teaching program in the field of Patient Education for health professionnals, a research program focused on adherence in chronic diseases. After training at the Center for Mindfulness in Boston with Jon Kabat Zinn's team, she implemented the first "meditation-based-stress-reduction program" in a French University hospital for chronic disease patients and soon for to health care providers in the hospital and medical students. In the community settings, she has initiated a regional network program dedicated to promotion of early diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (Rhapsody network that has now joined two other networks to become RENIF covering the whole Ile de France district). She is President of the Continuous Medical Educational Program group of the Society of Nephology and a member of the French and American Societies of Nephrology.
