Damaris Nyamweya is a 25 year old young champion born with HIV. She supports Adolescents and Youths living with HIV through initiatives geared towards improving HIV health outcomes, eliminating stigma and improving quality of life, as well as, a lady who is proud and confident of whom she has become.
She has a Diploma in Counseling Psychology from the Kenya Institute of Professional Counseling. She has more than 5 years’ working experience in supporting AYPLWHIV as a Peer Counselor at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
She is the President and Co- Founder of Operation Triple Zero (OTZ), An Adolescent and Youth led initiative geared towards improving HIV health outcomes through its three key principles; Zero missed appointments, Zero missed drugs and Zero viral load. OTZ inspiration motto is Zeros for Heroes and Heroes for Zero; It takes a Hero to be a Zero and a Zero to be a Hero.
In December 2018, she received an award from the United States Embassy and the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) for being a champion in the fight against stigma among people living with HIV.
