On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we wish you a warm welcome to the Puerto Rico Meeting on Hepatitis and HIV. We are delighted to bring you the first combined conference on such important and relevant topics and we hope you might be able to join us in this unique workshop in San Juan, Puerto Rico in August 2019.
Our key goal in establishing this meeting is to bring together practicing physicians and healthcare providers who treat both infections on a day-to-day basis in order to improve quality in clinical practice and to improve patient experience. As part of our overarching goal, we are trying to expand hepatitis C (HCV)/HIV awareness among HIV practitioners, infectious disease physicians, gastroenterologists, and hepatologists, particularly in light of its high prevalence as comorbidities in our local epidemic and other low-resource settings. The scientific topics discussed in the program will cover the latest advances in the fields of diagnosis and management.
The core program has been developed to provide state-of-the-art information on HIV and viral hepatitis and to discuss regional issues and challenges, focusing on public health implications. This meeting offers a selection of plenary sessions and round table case discussions with the aim to stimulate collaborations across key stakeholders to advance the field.
The nature of this meeting and its program will be interactive, stimulating locoregional and cross-disciplinary exchange, in-depth discussion, and debate in order to promote emphasis on future steps in curtailing both epidemics.
The Meeting Chairs,
This meeting will be CME accredited through the Central Division for Continuing Education and Professional Studies, Medical Sciences Campus, and the University of Puerto Rico. We have applied for 9 CME credits for this educational activity.
