On behalf of the Organizing Committee we wish you a warm welcome to the Puerto Rico Meeting on Hepatitis and HIV. We are delighted to bring you the first combined conference on such important and relevant topics and that you might be able to join us in this unique workshop in San Juan Puerto Rico in August 2019.
Our key aim in establishing this meeting is to bring together practicing physicians and healthcare providers who treat on a day to day basis both infections in order to improve quality in clinical practice as well as in care to patients’ lives. As part of our overarching goal we are trying to encompass HIV/HCV awareness among HIV practitioners, Infectious Disease physicians and Gastroenterologists (Hepatologists) as an important comorbidity in view of such a high prevalence in our local epidemic and stringent resources setting. The core program has been developed to provide state of the art information on HIV and Viral Hepatitis, to discuss regional issues and challenges, focusing on public health implications with a framework of sound clinical and basic science agenda.
The scientific topics in the program cover not only the latest advances in the field of diagnosis and management but also offers a selection of plenary sessions, round table case discussions in order to stimulate collaborations across key stakeholders in moving the field forward.
The nature of this meeting and its program will be interactive, stimulating loco regional and cross-disciplinary exchange, in-depth discussion and debate in order to promote emphasis on future steps to curtail both epidemics.
