 Virology Education (VE) is offering conference scholarships for the International Workshop on HIV Pediatrics in Mexico City, 19-20 July 2019 to HIV healthcare professionals from all over the world.

All applicants will receive notification of application status no later than June 10, 2019.

WHAT DOES THE CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP COVER?

  • Registration to the conference
  • Support for travel 
  • Hotel accommodation on the conference dates
  • Dinner on 19 July

 WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS?

Recipients will be on site at the conference, attend all sessions and participate actively for the duration of the conference. Recipients must sign-in to each session as requested by VE. 

Recipients will  provide a post-meeting evaluation and summary about his/her conference experience within one month after the end of the conference. The evaluation questionnaire will be an online survey for the recipient to provide feedback on their experience at the conference, the conference scholarship procedure, and how they will implement the knowledge acquired at the meeting in their daily practice. The questionnaire will be sent to each recipient by email within one week of the conference conclusion.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The applicant must be a healthcare professional
  • The applicant must be willing to share his/her experience at the conference within his/her network
  • The applicant must be eligible to obtain a visa for travel
  • The applicant must declare that he/she is able and willing to fund all other costs beyond the scholarship that are involved in attending the conference, e.g. all other hotel, travel, and subsistence expenses NOT covered by the conference scholarship
  • The applicant must declare to take out his/her own insurance policies (for travel, liability, illness and/or other necessary insurances in relation to his/her participation in the conference)

  • Recommendation by the Scientific and Organizing Committees of the conference
  • Quality of the abstract (if accepted)
  • Young/early career investigator

IMPORTANT

  • Incomplete applications will not be considered
  • Retrospective applications will not be considered
  • Applications will be considered until the exhaustion of funds
  • VE cannot guarantee awarding the conference scholarship to prospective grantees until the confirmation of available funds. In the event that sufficient funding for the conference scholarship is not available, Virology Education will not be liable for any expenses or damages incurred by the prospective grantee with regards to the conference scholarship application and/or preparation for the meeting
  • Applicants will be notified of the decision by email. Successful applicants will be notified with further instructions
  • Conference scholarships are non-transferrable

You are eligible for a CPG if you are a healthcare professional (medical doctor, researcher, nurse) involved in eliminating viral hepatitis.

Requirements
In order to qualify for a grant, the abstract submitter must:
-    have an accepted abstract
-    be 35 years or younger (or come from an RLS/Low-Income country)
-    be the Oral Presenter of the accepted abstract
-    not have a position higher than Assistant Professor

With the generous support of ViiV Healthcare, we are offering Conference Participation Grants (CPG) for the Asia HIV Clinical Forum & APACC on 31 May – 3 June 2017 in Hong Kong to HIV and/or Hepatitis Healthcare Professionals from the Asia/Pacific region.

The 1st Asia Pacific HIV Clinical Forum on Integrase Inhibitors will be held on 31 May & 1 June, 2017 in Hong Kong, just prior to the 2nd Asian Pacific AIDS & Co-Infections Conference (APACC).

This Forum offers a unique platform for discussion on the clinical utility of Integrase Inhibitors in daily practice. After your participation in the meeting, you will be able to:

    • identify and manage patients who would be eligible for induction-maintenance therapy;
    • recognize potential drug interactions and, based on this knowledge, develop treatment strategies that could prevent these interactions;
    • design treatment strategies for different patient populations;
    • describe and identify the various factors that influence the use of long acting antivirals

What is expected from the grant recipients?

  • Recipient will be onsite at the conference, attend all sessions and participate actively for the whole duration of the Conference.
  • Recipient will write a brief article about his/her Conference experience (approximately 500 words) for conference publicity purposes within 3 months of the end of the conference.

Arrangements

Hotel reservation

  • The hotel reservation will be made and settled by VE.
  • Any additional nights will be at the Recipients’ own expense. The Recipient will contact VE promptly if additional nights are required. (Note: The room block generally fills quickly. Additional nights are allotted based on availability).
  • Any and all incidentals incurred at the hotel are at the Recipient’s own expense.
  • Once the hotel reservation is final, any changes to or cancellations of the reservation will be at the Recipient’s own expense.
  • In the event the Recipient must stay at the hotel for additional nights due to travel delays through no fault of Recipient, VE shall pay all hotel accommodation costs for such additional night(s).

Flight arrangements

  • Flight arrangements will be made and settled by VE. VE will put Recipient in contact with VE’s travel agency to select the most suitable flight.
  • The maximum amount available for airfare in relation to this CPG is 400 USD. If Recipient prefers a flight with a higher cost, the additional amount will be at the Recipient’s own expense and will need to be settled with the travel agency directly.
  • Once the flight ticket reservation is final, any flight changes, upgrades or cancellations will be at the Recipient’s own expense.
  • VE will not be responsible for any additional coasts due to missed flights or no-shows.
  • Recipient is committed to attend the meeting in person. If you fail to do so, you will be charged the full amount of the travel and accommodation costs incurred and will be excluded from applications for future conference participation grants of Virology Education.
  • Recipient will be responsible for arranging and settling visas and/or other documentations required for traveling to the conference venue.
  • VE cannot be held responsible for any expenses, costs or damages incurred by Recipient in relation to this CPG & conference participation.
  • It is not possible to receive a direct payment or reimbursement for the value represented by the CPG.

The grants are supported by ViiV Healthcare. ViiV will have no control, influence, or involvement in selection of any attendees.

Grant applications will be reviewed by the Grant Review Committee (consisting of several members of the Organizing and Scientific Committee), which will carefully evaluate all applications with full consideration that no applicant is subjected to discrimination of any type. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis to those who meet the following requirements.

In the selection of attendees will be considered:

  • Healthcare professionals who can show scientific interest in the Meeting, or can show benefits to their patients from attending the Meeting;
  • Healthcare professionals who can share learning to a larger community after the Meeting because they teach in colleges or postgraduate units, or are part of a larger network of healthcare professionals anticipating information from the Meeting.
