Giovanni Di Perri, MD, PhD is Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Turin, Italy, where he also serves as Head of the Department of Clinical Infectious Diseases and of the Postgraduate School of Infectious Diseases.
Professor Di Perri has carried out several original investigations in the fields of tuberculosis, malaria and HIV infection. He is author of over 200 publications on peer-reviewed journals and his major current research interest is on the clinical pharmacology of anti-infective agents, particularly antiretrovirals. Under his guidance, the Department of Infectious Diseases of the University of Turin has been included among the clinical centres participating in international phase I−IV trials on antiretrovirals and other anti-infective agents. Under his chairmanship this department established a new Unit of Clinical Pharmacology of Antiretrovirals in 2001, which carries out therapeutic drug monitoring of antiretroviral therapy on a regular basis, as well as clinical investigations on clinical pharmacology of antiretrovirals.
