Professor Nelson Lee is the Head and Endowed Professor of Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Honorary Consultant of the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong; and Chairman of Infectious Diseases Board, the Hong Kong College of Physicians. As an academic physician, he is leading research, teaching, specialist training and clinical service in infectious diseases in the region. His research interests are on emerging infections, including influenza, RSV, coronavirus, and severe pneumonia in the hospitalized adults. Other areas include TB and metabolic complications of HIV/AIDS. A wide range of translational and cross-discipline researches have been conducted, with emphasis on clinical management, transmission, infection control, and host response. Professor Lee has published over 243 research articles, book chapters and conference papers, which received high citations (>7145, Google Scholar; h-index of 39) and are referenced in multiple health authority clinical guidelines. He has received 7 local academic awards; the “Young Investigator Award”, IX International Conference on Respiratory Viral Infections in 2007; and the “International Young Investigator Award”, 48th Infectious Diseases Society of America in 2010. Professor Lee is serving in 10 governmental and professional advisory boards on issues related to infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS, and as invited reviewer of numerous high impact medicine and subspecialty journals.
