Soňa Fraňková works as a physician at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, Czech Republic. Dr Fraňková received her medicine degree in 2001 from Charles University in Prague. In 2017, she defended her Ph.D. thesis entitled "Role of host-dependent factors in prediction of antiviral treatment response in chronic hepatitis C".
She has a long-standing interest in clinical hepatology, focusing especially on viral hepatitis in cirrhotic patients and liver transplant candidates, and recurrent HCV in liver transplant recipients.
Dr Fraňková is an investigator on a number of national and international clinical trials evaluating new approaches to the treatment of viral hepatitis. Her current research interests focus on epidemiology of HCV, prognostic factors of treatment response in immunocompromised hosts and the pathophysiology of complications of liver cirrhosis.
She has authored more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed medical and scientific journals, as well as book chapters in the area of viral hepatitis and complications of liver cirrhosis. She is a member of the European Association for the Study of the Liver and the Czech Association for Gastroenterology, and is a scientific board member of the Czech Association for Hepatology.
