Dr. Ying-Ru Lo received her MD at the University of Hamburg, Germany in 1994. She is certified in Internal Medicine and Tropical Medicine of Hygiene by the Hamburg Medical Association (Ärztekammer). She has about 30 years of experience in clinical management of infectious diseases in Hamburg and as senior public health expert working at WHO in Bangkok, Delhi and Geneva. Dr Lo's main interest lies in translating research to implementation. She published about 40 peer reviewed articles that appeared in journals such as AIDS, Clinical Infectious Diseases, The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of the International AIDS Society, The Lancet, Plos One and the Journal of Virus Eradication and numerous WHO guidelines and reports.
Dr. Lo directs the World Health Organization’s regional HIV, hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections programme in the Western Pacific which includes 37 countries and areas including Cambodia, China, Malaysia, and Viet Nam.
